Just Call Her Gumby

Kaitlyn lost another tooth today. Now she has no front teeth. Look at that big gummy smile. I love when they are toothless like this.

She was so proud of herself too that she got her tooth out. Now I won't have to hear her complain that it hurts. Although, now I'll have to remember no corn on the cob. Good thing it's not in season.

And just for a little picture fun here are a few of Natalie tonight too. She didn't lose any teeth, but she's still a goof ball.

A big beautiful smile

A Rash and a Tooth or Two; Oh My

A little good news bad news with CJ. I'll start with the bad news. Tuesday night we noticed his head looked like this when we took off his DOC Band to change him. So we kept the band off for the night in hopes that it would go away. It didn't so I called Cranial Tech in the morning. They said it sounds like it's from the heat so I'm to put hydrocortisone cream on it and take the band off every three hours to wipe the sweat. So I did that under the impression that by the night it would look lots better. It did not nor did it look better the next day. So I called Cranial Tech again. They took a while to get back to me so I ended up calling his pediatrician too. Cranial Tech did get back to me first about it and they said to take the band off and don't put it back on until the rash goes away. Once it has gone away then I am to put the hydrocortosone cream on that spot to head off any further rash. A little while later his pediatrician called back and said to put Aquaphor on it and cover it with a non stick pad and then put the band back on. Okay, so I'm now using Aquaphor to get rid of the rash and once it's gone I will continue to use the Aquaphor with the non stick pad to keep his head from getting this rash again. Poor little guy. It doesn't seem to bother him too much though which is always a good sign.

Now for the good news. CJ finally got his 1st tooth. It took 9 1/2 months, but yesterday I felt it in there. And my boy he can't do anything small so there's not one, but there's actually two teeth in there. They are both on the bottom front right next to each other. Joe managed to get a peek at them last night to in fact see there are two in there, but I haven't actually seen them yet. Little bugger keeps putting his tongue in the way. Oh well, I'll see them eventually.

Where Did it Go

For weeks now I have been telling people that CJ has his first tooth. The other day I was checking to see if anymore teeth were coming in and I felt nothing. Not even his first tooth. Where did it go? This is my 3rd baby I should know what a tooth feels like, right? It was hard and sharp. I must admit he never let anyone get a good look at it, but it had to be there. What are these teeth doing? Playing peek a boo? So CJ is 7 months old now and still without teeth. Oh well he's got time. I sure do feel like a fool though.

Sunday CJ turned 7 months old. He's getting so big. He is finally moving out of the 3-6 month clothing and into 6-9 month clothing. Just in time for the warmer weather to get here. He had his first taste of french fry last night, but didn't seem too impressed. He was much more interested in Kaitlyn's applesauce.

We are moving forward with his Birth to Three stuff. We have an IFSP in place now. Services will likely start for him next week. He will see a special education teacher once a week and an Occupational Therapist once a month. This should be interesting as I'm told the OT is hearing impaired. I'm hopeful that she's more enthusiastic than the Physical Therapist that came out to evaluate him though. I could have had her come out to do his therapy once a month, but I decided that we wouldn't get that much out of her. I've been assured that the OT is completely capable of addressing CJ's motor issues though. We've gotta get that boy rolling and sitting already. In the meantime I was given some things I could try. I was told I could sit him in a box or a square/rectangular laundry basket. Sit him in the corner so he can't flop to one side or the other. I haven't tried it yet. Joe thinks it's crazy. He's a pain though. He was home when the Special Ed Teacher came out to do his IFSP and he refused to be a part of it. I told him he should have been and now he's questioning me on what this person is telling me to do with our son. Doesn't seem that he has any room to be saying anything since he doesn't want to be too involved in this whole process. So instead I've been laying him on his tummy on the couch or bed because he seems to like that better than the floor. And since it all starts from tummy time I want to get him to tolerate that a little better. Then he also has this seat which is like a Bumbo seat (just a cheaper version) that the PT had told me was a great place for him to sit. So he's been spending more time in there. We have the other problem of because he prefers being on his back the back of his head is flat so if we can't get that to come out then he's going to have to wear a helmet. So much more motivation for us to get him off his back.

So here's what CJ does now. He holds his own bottle. He rolls front to back. He says ah ma, da da, ga ga, ba ba. He just babbles he's not saying those "words" for anything, but he's very vocal. He's a very social little boy. He will go to just about anybody and smiles all the time. He's still very hard to get to laugh. He holds it in. He's just like his daddy in that respect. Somehow he does manage to scoot himself along the floor. He's got very strong legs so when he's laying on the floor he just kicks till he gets himself somewhere. He loves being in his jumperoo. He gets that thing going real good. So this is my little 7 month old baby boy.

Happy 6th Birthday Kaitlyn!

Knock Knock

"What", I grumble this morning at 7 a.m. from lack of
sleep due to going to bed late and CJ waking up at 5.

"I'm six today!" says Kaitlyn with shear excitement.

"Happy Birthday!" I say to her.

"Thanks" as she runs off skipping.

Yes my baby girl is 6 today. It's so hard to believe.
She has been so excited for today.

So at 2:10 this morning Kaitlyn turned 6. So it's
official we have a 6 year old in the house.

I think her day has been a good one. She opened some presents first thing in the morning. She called the first box before she even opened it, Tinker Bell PJ's.

Of course what kind of Tinker Bell fan would she be without oh her 9th and 10th Tinker Bell t-shirts?

She of course had to wear one of her new shirts today. She looks so pretty!

She had to wear her Tinker Bell crown today. What a beautiful Fairy Princess she makes.

What kind of birthday would this be without a present from big sis? Boy was she excited that her big sister got her something.

What a pretty Tinker Bell necklace from Natalie.

After school she got even more presents. Her very own Tinker Bell alarm clock and two Fairies; Fawn and Rosetta.

What would a birthday be without singing Happy Birthday, blowing out candles, and eating a cupcake?

And not only is she 6, but she is now minus one more tooth. Her second tooth came out tonight. She was so brave and pulled it out all by herself. Didn't even need mommy's help this time. Must be because she's 6 now. So looks like she'll be getting a visit from the Tooth Fairy tonight.

She got her tooth all ready for the tooth fairy by putting it in the tooth holder.

What a 6th birthday it has been for her. Happy Birthday to my baby girl. I can't wait to celebrate many many more birthdays with you!
