Ooops I forgot...

my 11 year old has basketball try outs tonight at 8. That's what my BIL said to us tonight when he came over for dinner. That's what he said at 7:30 at night. That's what he said after he spent the majority of the time he was here trying to coax his 13 year old out of the car because he had yelled at him on the way here for making his sister cry. That's what he said half an hour before said try outs when it takes him at least 40 minutes to get home.

So I offered dessert and more food and they actually hung around 20 minutes longer, but not by my BIL's choice I don't think. Nope, Joe walked into the living room where he was with all of the kids and heard said 11 year old say to him why are you winking? As he was telling them it was time to go. And this child who had basketball try outs at 8 p.m. on a school night mind you didn't seem to be in any hurry to leave.

We haven't seen Joe's brother since Christmas. We have had to beg him every time we've seen him for him to spend time with us. When he does actually show up finally to spend time with us he doesn't even spend any time with us. I just don't get it. I worked so hard today preparing for him to come over. I cleaned the entire apartment. I made fudge for dessert. I made homemade sauce and baked ziti for dinner. Even had garlic bread. And he couldn't get out of here fast enough. I guess we know for sure where we stand. Years ago we couldn't get him to leave when he'd come over. Now we can't get him to stay.
