Just one day after turning 2 CJ had to have his well baby check today. He's doing great! He was 32 3/4 inches tall and 24 pounds 6.5 ounces. Both of those are in the 10th %tile which is where he's steadily remained for months now. His head is 50 cm which is in the 90th %tile so he's still got a big head. Which means lots of brains.
And boy does he use those brains too. Since turning 2 his language has flourished. Developmentally the doctor is very pleased with him. But more importantly she is pleased in his weight gain and feels we can try taking him off the pediasure. I love that. His iron was a little low, but he's fighting off a cold. So I talked her into holding off on the iron supplement and retesting in two weeks to see if it goes up. We had this issue at his one year as well and he was also fighting off an illness so we waited it out and retested when he was better and he was fine. Lead was a slight concern too. It wasn't very high, but it's something we're going to keep an eye on with him. And in the mean time I need to spick and span the windows and walls.
He did get one shot today. He got the HIB vaccine. The last one he needed. They had to hold off on giving it out to older children because there was a shortage of it, but they've got enough of the vaccine now so he was able to get his final dose today. We discussed the flu vaccine and the swine flu vaccine. I opted out of both. The doctor was pushing the swine flu vaccine though because the very young are at high risk. I'm just very concerned about the rush there was to make it. So we'll just follow common flu prevention practices.
